Meatloaf
Servings: 4-6
Ingredients:
Meatloaf:
2 pounds hamburger
1 medium yellow onion, diced
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 large egg, whisked
3/4 cup Italian bread crumbs
Sauce:
1 8 ounce can of tomato sauce
1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large mixing bowl, add all the ingredients for the meatloaf. Mix well to combine. Add meat to the 9” x 5” loaf pan, gently press meat down and shape evenly and bake meatloaf for 40 minutes.
Meanwhile in a mixing bowl, combine the sauce ingredients and set aside. Remove meatloaf from oven after 40 minutes. Spoon 1/2 of the grease from the pan. Spoon sauce mixture over the top of meatloaf. Return to oven for 15 minutes. Cook until the internal temperature is 160 degrees. Rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Variations:
Add 1 teaspoon of liquid smoke to meat mixture
Add sliced green or black olives to meat mixture
Substitute ground turkey or use 1 pound each, hamburger and turkey
Use 1 pound each, hamburger and ground pork
Forgo tomato sauce and serve with a brown gravy
Add BBQ sauce to the tomato sauce
